Indigenous Rap to Close the Gap

A group of Aboriginal school students from NSW are engaged in writing and performing hip hop message songs that celebrate Aboriginal life and worldviews and challenge racism. See: http://www.news.com.au/schools-rap-to-close-gap/story-e6frea83-1225939880805
The principal of Collarenebri Central School said that: 'As a community we are very proud of our students who have up come up with the words as part of a targeted school initiative to increase student engagement and learning ... The words reflect the students' understanding of Aboriginal Australia's history and the need to step up and move forward.'

Listen to the lyrics and reflect on their meaning and their impact - for the student performers and lyricists and for the audience.

Grace

Reflect on the term 'grace' as an element in religious and spiritual practice and doctrine. What does the word signify for you? Write your thoughts about grace on your blog. Can one life gracefully and what does this mean for a world of financial and environmental crisis?
A beautiful song written in honour of Andree Guelen to commemorate her 90th birthday. It celebrates the heroic action she took to rescue Jewish children.
Reflect on the song and its message and write about those reflections as a post on your own blog.
